Yacht Maverick - new horizons

Yacht Maverick - new horizons

A Home away from home

That was the resolute promise made by shipowner Tom Schröder, who will soon be setting off on a long journey in the luxury yacht Maverick. Fascinated by the radiance and variance of light by Occhio, which he also enjoys in his private residences, he knew without doubt that the luminaires should accompany him onto the water. The centrepiece of this design is the elegant Mito series, which bathes many focal spaces on board in a truly special ambience. Flooded with light and brightness during the day, the Maverick reveals its full charm once darkness falls, as this is when light by Occhio gently touches the waves.

Fresh breeze

Yachts are normally built with the same lighting throughout, but for the Maverick, each space was designed independently. From the spacious lounge deck, you can access the dining area, where Mito cosmo move is arranged at different heights to reflect the rise and fall of the waves. Lowered via motor, the light rings can be retracted into the ceiling during the journey, then quickly re-emerge from their resting position when needed. The intimate, cosy aura exuded by Mito cosmo move brings a feeling of home to the high seas. This scene is accompanied by lui alto spotlights framing the room, with light that can be focused to create specific accents. Special attention was paid to the design of the spotlight, which has a matt-black body and a zoom lens that peeks out in a phantom finish, giving the luminaire an even more refined look.

The corridors are illuminated by staggered Mito soffitto on the ceiling. The lively string of light ultimately ends with two Mito soffitto luminaires on the wall, creating an additional highlight at the end of the hall.

Like an exceptional pendant on a delicate necklace, Mito cosmo move is revealed in radiant bronze in the intimate darkness of the dressing room.

Simply beautiful

The bathrooms showcase one of the many special solutions developed by Occhio for this unique project. The Mito sfera su luminaire is mounted on the openable mirrors and – thanks to specially developed cable management – makes your face glow. In particular, this demonstrates the adaptability and versatility of the Mito series when it comes to having the right light for every place and every situation. Mito luminaires are their own category within the collection and represent unmatched functional and aesthetic quality with Occhio's distinctive signature.

Delicate touches

While the strings of Mito soffitto in the halls guide the way, those in the bedrooms welcome residents with an arrangement that seems almost accidental. Here too, the delicate light rings adorn the centre of the room while spotlights from the lui series illuminate the edges. The Mito soffitto group has been intentionally placed over the foot of the bed to create pleasant, indirect lighting. If you want to add to the ambience with directed light, the swivelling lui pico spotlights above the bedside tables are the perfect solution. For consistency, they too are designed in matt black with a zoom lens in phantom.

The same wavelength

On deck, the light flirts with the water. The outside decks feature Mito sfera cut into the slatted ceiling, with each luminaire embracing a tinted mirror that reinforces the impression of being surrounded by sea. Here, the holistic nature of the lighting concept is tangible: the recurring circle motif of the Mito series makes the transitions between indoor and outdoor areas completely seamless and blends these areas into a single creation.

The element of water can also be found on board thanks to the reflections in the mirrors of the Mito soffitto luminaires on deck – these were custom made for the yacht.
